Romance runs deep in the island province of Bali. It has been popular with couples and honeymooners for long, with its range of restaurants serving up a host of cuisines, along its blue seas and paddy fields. From candlelit dinners by the shores to retro interiors in the city, Bali has everything to help you fall head over heels in love or keep the already kindled fires burning. Of course, nothing can beat cooking up your own Balinese meal for your partner, which we can help you with. But for the rest of you here’s a list of romantic dinners you can have in Bali.
1. Barbacoa, Kerobokan: Barbacoa is a hot new sensation in Bali. Located in Kerobokan, this restaurant has quickly risen in popularity as one of Bali’s finest. Barbacoa specialises in Latin American flavours that are barbecued, wood-fired, or smoked. Its interiors consist of vintage leather banquettes, colourful Mediterranean-style floor tiles, and flickering candles made from recycled jars. Barbacao makes for a perfect dinner date with its loft-style private dining area that overlooks Balinese paddy fields.
2. Sundara, Jimbaran Bay: Set on the beach-front, Sundara makes for the ideal location for a heady sunset cocktail and dinner. Begin your date early and watch the sunset with your significant other, while sipping on mojitos and martinis. Sundara’s dinner menu emphasises on grilled and wood-fired seafood, premium quality meats, and a range of vegan dishes. The ocean view and exotic menu can only enhance the romance in the air.
3. Kayuputi, Kuta Selatan: You can’t go wrong at this four-time Wine Spectator Award winning restaurant. With its remarkable fine dining experience, Kayuputi is inspired by The Hamptons of New York. From caviar to oysters and king prawn to codfish, if you are looking for a luxurious evening to celebrate love, Kayuputi is just right.
4. Sarong, Kerobokan: Sarong is one of the most sought-after dining establishments in Bali with multiple awards to boast of. It has two dining pavilions, an outdoor lounge, and an informal dining area adjacent to the bar, but if you can request for seating in the garden, do it by al means. Sarong is known for its Asian cuisine consisting of Indian, Thai, and Indonesian dishes.
5. Balique, Jalan Uluwatu: Set by the relaxed fishing village of Jimbaran in south Bali, Balique has a distinct style with its whirring fans and vintage European style decor. It is airy, painted with muted colours, and lit with a multitude of quirky lamps. The baby mozzarella and tomato salad, calamari and tiger prawn pasta, and salmon tartare come highly recommended.
