Egypt Was A Childhood Dream Come True! Our Women Travellers Explain Why

For many of us who grew up reading about the great pyramids in National Geographic magazines or learning about the legends of the mummies, travelling to Egypt is a dream.

And for our small group of adventurous women who journeyed to the land of the pharaohs in April this year, the trip was nothing short of a childhood dream come true.

From actually climbing up into the Great Pyramid of Khufu to sailing down the great, glittering Nile, and venturing into the beautifully decorated tombs of ancient pharaohs, the group got to do it all!

Here, they share favourite memories from the trip:

“Honestly, it’s difficult to pick just one favourite as I loved so many experiences, including the Valley Of The Kings, but I would have to say that the Pyramids topped it all. They were the main reason I wanted to visit Egypt because I’ve dreamed of seeing them in person for the longest time. And it did not fail to disappoint. Those magnificent structures loom above you, making your question your place in this universe.”

“Gazing upon the grand Nile for the first time evoked a surge of emotions in me. Suddenly, what I had read as a child in history books was actually in front of me. I was experiencing the past in present tense.  It is a sensation like no other, a feeling of quiet knowledge. Egypt’s exotic atmosphere wrapped around me, balanced by the comfort and intimacy of the waters of this timeless river slowly drifting by.”

“Abu Simbel took me by surprise. It has a quiet air of power that I’ll never forget.” ~ Pavi Sagar

“I never expected that Abu Simbel would be my favourite memory from the trip.  But this Egyptian temple fronted by immense huge statues of Ramses II, massive pillars down the entrance chamber and walls covered entirely in hieroglyphics, left me feeling dwarfed and awed by the magnitude of the place. It was a truly moving experience.

If you want to make your childhood dream of travelling come true, then don’t waste any more time! Join us as we go to Egypt from India on a journey filled with mummies, pyramids, and pharaohs as well as local food, dancing and shopping.
