Jordan receives a lot of superstar actors from all over the world, but none as notorious as India’s very own Pammi Aunty!
That’s right. Ssumier Pasricha’s Punjabi alter-ego Pammi Aunty – complete with a towel on her head with rollers on top, facemask and wicked sense of humour, travelled to Jordan with us, exploring all the country’s iconic sights – Petra, Dead Sea, Wadi Rum, Aqaba and Amman – and experiencing all the local highlights.
Why Jordan?
It’s a beautiful destination, full of great shopping opportunities, it’s affordable – and best of all, you can easily get a visa on arrival!
Check out Pammi Aunty’s holiday in Jordan:
Wadi Rum
As Pammi Aunty discovered, Wadi Rum is one of the most dramatic terrains on the planet! This vast, red-washed desert is dotted with massive granite, basalt and sandstone mountains that rise out of the glittering red sands. It looks a little bit like Mars!
It’s so beautiful that many movies have been filmed here. Did you know that the beautiful backdrop of the romantic song ‘Dil Tu Hi Bataa’ in Krissh 3, in which Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan is singing to actress Kangana Ranaut, was shot here?
AND: there are lots of good looking Bedouins for you to get married to! 🙂
PETRA
Yes, Pammi Aunty also visited Petra, one of the Wonders of the World and one of the most unforgettable sights in Jordan.
You’ll enter this rose-red city carved entirely from red sandstone via a canyon, emerging directly in front of the The Treasury, and feeling every inch the bonafide adventurer – in fact, it is well known for featuring in ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.’
Petra has tons of surprises for travellers – there are around 800 carved tombs, as well as obelisks, temples, colonnaded streets, and sacrificial altars.
Dead Sea
Just like Pammi Aunty, you can try to drown yourself all you want – but in the Dead Sea, you’ll find it difficult to pull it off. Because the Dead Sea is one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water, people can easily float due to natural buoyancy.
So, grab a nice cup of chai, float on your back and take in the view of the pretty waters.
There’s also plenty of other amazing sights in Jordan such as Aqaba, which right next to the Red Sea is home to 1,000 species of fish that you can just take a dip and swim with, or Amman, a city that is filled with history.
If Pammi Aunty is willing to skip a kitty party to travel to see the wonders of Jordan, you have no excuse!
Pack your bags, book a ticket, and come explore Jordan just like she did!
