5 Experts Talk About The Most Romantic Places To Pop The Question

“The goal is to laugh forever with someone you take serious.”

It probably is the most important decision you’d take in life. And maybe, the most important question you’d ask to a person. When it comes to proposing to your better half, we know you want to do it in the most romantic way possible, maybe travel to someplace you both can relate to, choosing the prettiest of locations.

What exactly is romantic? We know it differs from couple to couple, so here are 5 different (yet gorgeous) locations to think about – sourced from 5 experts who have actually been there, popping the question and making it happen!

Starting Big In A Whole New World : Hang Son Doong, Vietnam

If adventure and nature are two things you both love, then Hang Son Doong is the place to be. The world’s largest cave, it’s so massive that it has its own jungle, underground river, weather system (and even clouds)! Sounds like a magical world, no? And maybe, the right place to live your magical moment:

“I asked Alesha to step up onto a limestone formation for a photo. With the rare sunbeam glowing brightly behind us, we looked into each other’s eyes. She asked me how we should stand for the photo, and I said that I had an idea. At this moment I dropped to one knee and told her that my love for her was larger than anything in this world, the cave included. With a tear welling up in my eye I asked the girl of my dreams to marry me. She closed her eyes, started crying and said “yes”.” ~ Jarryd from the NOMADASAURUS

At The World’s Most Romantic City – Paris

It’s true – when we think of love and romance, it’s very likely that Paris comes to your mind. While it’s really romantic to go down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower, you might find the gardens and parks of Paris to be more romantic:

“When we arrived at the Eiffel Tower, the whole area was buzzing; the queues for the Tower itself were longer than I have ever seen them, and the festive market was incredibly busy too. We quickly decided that it was all a bit much, and headed further down into the Champ de Mars, where things were much, much quieter.

We went for a walk around the gardens, which is where I thought for a brief moment that Lewis was being quite strange; we circled around a fair bit, but I just thought he was having a wander, looking for a good photo opportunity, something like that. He made for a bench with a view of the Tower, and we sat down “to have a rest”.

Snuggled up on that bench, gazing at the Tower and with just the two of us around – that was when he asked me, and it was perfect.” ~ Laura from the Style Stories

The One With The Unforgettable View: Machu Picchu, Peru

Exploring these ancient Incan ruins is a dream come true for many of us. Including Zara. But little did she realise the surprise that was in store for her at the top.

“Ashray suggested we sit on a more secluded rock, overlooking the impressive Machu Picchu, just over the cliff…After a lot of rambling (from my end, of course) I noticed Ashray was looking nervous. “It’s the altitude” I thought. But it wasn’t! …Ashray said how happy he is with me. How great our travels together have been and how he wants to keep it that way. “Me too”, I said with a smile. But his uneasy lips were hiding something more: A MARRIAGE PROPOSAL!” ~ Zara from the Backpack Me

Sailing Through A Winter Wonderland : Near Lake Tahoe, California

For those in love with winters and snow, proposing near Lake Tahoe is one option you should consider. With gorgeous views and snow as far as the eye can see, it definitely is a romantic winter wonderland. Here’s one person who actually did it, while snowboarding:

“Mick proposed to me whilst we were snowboarding on a black run overlooking Lake Tahoe in California. Much to my surprise! After all, we had already been together for 11 years at that stage so it was totally unexpected. There was no question that we would have a winter wedding…” ~  The Snow Chasers

They went on to have a winter wedding in New Zealand!

Proposing Love In An Exotic Way: Phi Phi, Thailand

Think of calm, pristine beaches. Beautiful islands that are quiet except for the crashing of waves and the sound of animals. And waters so blue, you feel like you’ve come far away from anything you’ve known. So beautiful that you’d want to make important memories here.

“Thailand was the destination and this trip went so well that in the beautiful Phi Phi islands, a surprise proposal occurred.

She said yes. But this trip not only solidified the love for each other. It also fueled our wanderlust and opened our eyes to the possibility of long-term travel. Soon after this trip, we not only began planning a wedding, but we began plotting how we could achieve the dream of traveling for more than a few weeks.” ~  John from Roaming Around The World
