plenty of outdoor adventures
Iceland is a haven for women who love the great outdoors, given that it’s packed with varied terrain and geological features, including mountains, glaciers, volcanoes, mud pots, fjords, sea cliffs and more. There’s no better place than here to challenge yourself to try something new and exciting or break out of your comfort zone. You could go hiking into an ice cave, go scuba diving, walk behind waterfalls and then you can treat yourself by taking a dip in a thermal lagoon.
inspiration wherever you look
Movie directors of the likes of Steven Spielberg sought and found inspiration in Iceland, and indeed, the landscape is so picturesque and unique that it’s impossible to not be affected by it. There’s no telling whether you’ll find inspiration in the beauty of the rugged landscape or the creativity of the Icelandic people, which you’ll see in almost everything, from the food to their gorgeously patterned sweaters.
Icelandic horses are adorable
Clearly.
It’s very safe
Iceland tops the list of safest and easiest destinations as its infrastructure is impeccable so navigating freely around the country is fairly simple, it has a low crime rate and gun violence is extremely rare. In addition, everyone speaks English so communication will be a cakewalk.
Icelanders are some of the world’s friendliest people
We’re not exaggerating. Icelanders are not only easy on the eyes, but they also consistently rank as one of the friendliest in the world to foreign visitors in world surveys and Reykjavik also ranks as one of the friendliest cities in the world. And you don’t have to take just our word for it. Participants in a recent survey were full of praise for this tiny country, stating that Icelanders had a “deep sense of culture, intellect, sophistication, and friendliness” and that “the hospitality was amazing, no matter who you met.”
It’ll never be easier to take a break from technology
You may thought it was an impossible feat to go a week without checking-in to Facebook or uploading a picture on Instagram, but in Iceland, there’s just so much to see and do that you’d probably leave your phone in the room. Okay, that may be stretching the truth a bit too far, but it’s a guarantee that you’ll probably be too busy taking in your surroundings (ie. the Northern Lights) or enjoying your escapades to play a session of Candy Crush.
Healthy food that is delicious
Iceland apparently has the world’s healthiest diet, thanks to all the fresh fish and high quality lean meat and dairy products that are made on family farms. Just remember that when you’re stuffing yourself with salted cod, soup with wild Icelandic herbs and drinking skyr smoothies and miraculously, not worrying at all about your belly.
A thermal pool here, there and everywhere
Iceland is full of geothermal hot springs, the most famous of which is the Blue Lagoon. Ladies, this is spa heaven. Slowly sink into the warmth of an electric-blue geothermal pool and relax. You can also get a variety of spa treatments here, including a sauna, steam bath, mini-waterfall and an in-water massage. It’s just heavenly, and is exactly what you need to nourish your well-being and feel blissful. Clearly, between its ease and accessibility, culture and safety record, Iceland is the perfect place for women travellers. Volcanoes, geysers, Icelandic sweaters and more await. Related Experiences
