Trip highlights

Drive along the Golden Circle
Highlight #1
Drive along the Golden Circle
This scenic route shows off Iceland’s raw, rugged interior in all its glory, with one spectacular sight after another.
Northern Lights Discovery - 6 Days
Highlight #2
You could call Strokkur a watercracker!
Stand back and watch the geyser spray! Strokkur blows off steam (pun intended) every few minutes or so, erupting some 80 metres into the air - quite the spectacle.
Northern Lights Discovery - 6 Days
Highlight #3
Iceland’s most instagrammable spot : Seljalandsfoss
Rainbows forming through mist clouds and a rare perspective of a waterfall - from within; there’s no better place to capture memories than Seljalandsfoss!
The Blue Lagoon
Highlight #4
The Blue Lagoon
It’s not often that you come across a bluer-than-blue thermal pool in the middle of a lavafield. Naturally, you’ll want to jump into it. We don’t blame you.
Quirky designs and a wild nightlife: Reykjavik
Highlight #5
Quirky designs and a wild nightlife: Reykjavik
The world’s northernmost capital is small but packs in everything - the quirkiest buildings (so colourful), jam-packed parties or quiet boozers -all within easy reach

We had such a magical and awesome time travelling through Egypt. The organisation of the tour was exceptional. Highlights for us was definitely the felucca boat trip, swimming with the wild dolphins in The Red Sea, riding on camels through the desert with the Great pyramids of Giza in the background!! Memories and experiences that will forever stay with us! Our tour guide Medo was amazing! Best tour guide ever... he was always there for us and his knowledge and wisdom about the ancient Egyptian culture and mythology is on another level... such a passionate individual and caring about our ever need. ”

All 3 staff [driver, cook and guide] were great, friendly, and the food was wonderful. Tents and mattresses were of a good standard. The staff who ran the Serengeti excursion were also very professional. Some of the campsites were a little basic; with poorly maintained facilities - for example broken toilet seats and non-flushing toilets were unpleasant. But they all had a bar area for child drinks, which was good.We didn't appreciate beforehand the number of very early starts that would be required; perhaps this should be made more clear on trip notes.”

Thank you to Sarah for arranging this tour for us via your China agents. This is the first tailor made tour you have provided to Taiwan and was an experiment on both sides. Whilst the tour itinerary was not easy to understand and Lion Travel Service in Taipei City were unable to provide it in a more usual format for UK clients, the actual tour worked very well. We were picked up on time at the University Campus in Taoyuan and were provided with an exceptionally good tour by a very good english speaking guide. The only down side was the first hotel which was poor. We gave feedback to the company as it lets down their excellent reputation and we suggested that they don't use this hotel again. We were told by our hosts at Taoyuan University that Lion Travel is the biggest travel company in Taiwan and has a very good reputation there. We particularly enjoyed the National Centre for Traditional Arts near Yilan and the fish spa. We were unable to make use of the hot springs at the hotel as it was so dirty and the hotel was so poor. The following day the highlight was the drive to Hualien on a spectacular coast road, and the visit to Tarago Gorge Park where the gorge sides are all marble, as are the 'rocks' in the river bed below. Superb! We had a little time spare on the final day so had some time at the Royal Palace Museum in Taipei - an absolute 'must' for any visitors to Taiwan. It is fabulous and really needs several hours just to scratch the surface. 20% of China's best treasures are housed here and whilst China would like them back, Taiwan is not giving them up. The last hotel at the airport is very new and is excellent. Highly recommended company, guide, and tour. Thank you Sarah for arranging it.”

I couldn’t recommend a guide more highly than Jamal. He was always watching after us and making sure that all our needs were met. He went above and beyond his duties many times. Above all he has a wonderful sense of humor, warmth and a great deal of knowledge. He made our holiday and because of him I would book with On the Go Tours again! ”

The only word for the Northern Lights is epic

Very few are lucky enough to see the dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis in person but you could be one of them.

Welcome to Reykjavik and the start of your Icelandic adventure! Take the included FLYBUS transfer from the airport to our hotel in Reykjavik. The remainder of the day is at leisure so why not go for a walk around the city – the beauty of Reykjavik is you can see many of the top sights in a very short space of time.

Reykjavik & Reykjanes

Reykjavik - Reykjanes Peninsula - Hvolsvollur. At 9am this morning we depart on a bus tour of Reykjavik, Iceland's capital. We drive past the impressive Harpa building, famous sun voyager statue and Hofdi House on the sea front. From here we visit the iconic Hallgrimskirkja Church and take a look inside before our last stop is the famous Perlan building. Opt to walk around the viewing platform for superb views across the city (entrance fee applies for viewing platform approx ISK490).

We also visit the charming fishing village of Hafnarfjorour. This afternoon, drive to the Reykjanes peninsula, famous for hot springs, picturesque mountains, bird cliffs, lighthouses and quaint fishing villages.

The next two nights are spent at Hotel Eyjafjallajökull, located in the countryside of South Iceland with a view over the mountain and volcanic range of Eykjafjallajökull, famous for its 2010 eruption. This remote location, away from light pollution, and set in a peaceful surrounding is ideal for seeing the Northern Lights. This evening we settle down to watch a fascinating documentary about the famous volcanic eruption of 2010, which caused flight chaos worldwide. Later on we enjoy a short Northern Lights photography lecture before heading outside to hopefully see them in all their glory.

Southern Waterfalls & Beaches

This morning we head along the south coast and reach the active volcano that is beneath the Eyjafjallajokull glacier. We stop at the high but narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which is 65 metres high and plunges from the mountain. We'll then take a short walk to discover the 'secret waterfall' of Gljufrabui, hidden within a canyon. Next we visit one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country; the 62 metre high Skogafoss waterfall. The tour continues further south where you can stroll on the black lava beach to see the amazing bird cliffs at Reynisfjara near Vík.

This evening we enjoy a delicious traditional Icelandic dinner and then spend the evening learning more about the Northern Lights. Head outside once again to hopefully spot this phenomena for a second time whilst we relax in the hot tubs.

Golden Circle

Hvolsvollur - Golden Circle - Reykjavik. In the morning we head for Gullfoss, a double waterfall that tumbles 34 metres into the Hvita River. Next, we visit the Geysir geothermal fields, where we'll find a variety of hot springs and bubbling pools. The original geyser is now dormant but has been replaced by Strokkur the Churn which erupts at 5-10 minute intervals. We end the day at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a place where you move between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We return to Reykjavik in the early evening.

Relaxing Blue Lagoon

This morning at 9am we transfer to the famous Blue Lagoon. Spend the next couple of hours relaxing in the warm blue waters before returning to Reykjavik. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Reykjavik further.

Arrangements end after breakfast and there's an included Flybus transfer to the airport.
